a cocktail reception for baby

January is one of the slowest months in the food business. So my first big event since new years was this past Friday, February 3rd. 

The event was a cocktail reception/baby shower that began at 6:30 in a newly renovated UES apartment. I was luck enough to break in the gorgeous new kitchen.

The menu:

arepitas with lime & jalapeño guacamole and queso fresco

gruyere mac n' cheese with parmesan tuile in custom baby food jars (navy blue ribbon for the baby)

burrito babies with braised short ribs, spicy bean puree and guacamole

BLT bites

pigs in a blanket (with chicken sausages)

ginger and lemongrass shrimp skewers

lamb & beef meatballs in a basil pignoli pesto

+ some cheese & charcuterie platters from Murray's Cheese, macarons from Francois Payard, and mini cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery
